Room of the week: blue ceiling

I'm starting a new regular feature on my blog called "room of the week." I think it'll be fun to pick a different room every week and look at what I like about it, and I'd love to hear your opinions! Please leave comments!

Here's the first room I want to share with you. I saw this kitchen on Pinterest the other day and stopped in my tracks (I haven't been able to find the original source -- does anyone know?).

I love a colored ceiling, and think this one has so much impact in an otherwise completely neutral space. I actually think this room would be downright boring if it wasn't for that colorful ceiling. Personally, if it was my room, I would have chosen a different blue, just since I'm not a big fan of blue-greys in general, but it's still pretty great.

I also love that the cabinets go all the way to the ceiling, without that awkward dust collector space between the top shelf and the ceiling. Ugh, I hate that wasted space. This is one of the problems I have with my own kitchen and would love to find a solution that doesn't look terrible with my super high ceilings.

What do you think of the pendant lights? Andy thinks they look too "spacey" but I think they're fun. I like the brass accents with this shade of blue.

Ok, friends, that's my room of the week. Let me know what you think. And I'll come back next week with a new one to look at!

    1. Yes, Mary, do it! If I ever get around to painting my guest room, it will definitely have a blue ceiling.
